International Student Payment Options

There are several ways to pay your tuition and housing fees to Bond University (and payments to off-campus apartments as well). Some methods are better than others. Here is a guide to help you.

International Wire Transfer

This is also known as a Telegraphic Transfer (TT) or International Money Transfer (IMT). This involves sending money directly from your bank account to the Bond University bank account in Australia. It takes about 3 business days for the money to arrive. Your bank will charge you a flat fee to send the money (usually about $35 to $50) so it doesn’t matter how much you send. But there is a downside. The exchange rate your bank gives you (when they exchange your local currency for Australian dollars) is terrible. This means it costs you hundreds of dollars more than other available options.

International Wire Transfer payments are no longer a payment option at Bond University. Please use one of the payment options below.

Slow Payment

Debit or Credit Card

This is quick and easy and payment arrives instantly. But there is a downside. The exchange rate is not the best rate so this can cancel out any upside of the points or miles you might earn.

GlobalPay for Students

GlobalPay is the official Bond University payment processor for international students. Payments can be made by local bank transfer or credit card. It is a service owned by Western Union and is used by all Australian universities. Their exchange rate is much better than your banks' exchange rate and therefore saves you a lot of money. For a $20,000 payment, the amount you pay in your local currency will be $450-$550 less. There is no fee for sending payments with GlobalPay and Bond receives the money in just a few days after you make your payment.

GlobalPay has bank accounts in your country so you simply transfer the funds (eg. domestic wire transfer) to a local bank vs sending an international wire transfer. You can also use a credit card (Visa and Mastercard).

Pay Pal

Just like with your bank account, your PayPal funds will need to be converted to Australian dollars in order to pay Bond University. The exchange rate offered by PayPal is one of the worst in the world so we don’t recommend doing this. However, if you already have an Australian dollar balance at PayPal, then this is an excellent payment option.
